Monday March 23rd 2020

12.30 for 1.00pm

The Bristol Hotel

We were delighted to welcome Louise Mitchell, CEO of The Bristol Music Trust who gave us an update on the transformation taking place at the Colston Hall. 30+ members logged on and had an illustrated talk from Louise. We had a brief history with slides showing the history & also how the building work has been going.

In 2009 the foyer was relaunched and now the Trust are focusing on the Concert Hall and back stage facilities, improving areas no longer fit for purpose for both audience and performers, whilst restoring the Victorian Byzantine Facade.

One slide was of the inside of the empty shell of the hall & showed what was at one point the one of the largest scaffolding towers in Europe supporting the structure of the building. The plans are ambitious and will take the Concert Venue forward with wonderful facilities for both performers and audiences.
