The immediate response on August 4th, from a member who has close connections with Beirut, was to contact colleagues in the Rotary Club Beirut Cedars which led to a crowd funding page being set up:

https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rotaryclubbeirutcedars

Since the page was set up, the initial target of £10,000.00 has been greatly surpassed. Donations have been from individuals & Rotary Clubs. The amazing response has enabled the Rotary Club Beirut Cedars to fund their Food Box project, which since the disaster, has been helping 500 families/week - the boxes are tagged via "GEOPAL' so they can be traced to ensure delivery to families in need.
