Our club wanted a capital and Bristol based
community project to mark our Centenary. We chose Speedwell because it was
poor, neglected and was entnically diverse
We worked with the Community Association to
refurbish the existing but dilapidated not fit for purpose centre. We got
planning permission, took on ownership of it from the Council and went about raising £100,000.
Together we succeeded and building started in February 2018 and was completed 2
months later
The new centre was formally opened on 23rd
june 2018. Just inside the centenary year. Now the centre can deliver the
benefits of providing amenities, clubs, activities etc to cater for all ages
and nationalities and so begin to create a more vibrant community.
