Six members of Porto RC arrived late Saturday evening.
We then went to visit the Roman Baths, starting off in the rain but finishing in bright sunshine. There was then a delightful, informative talk by Geoff Peattie on The Suspension Bridge & Isambard Kingdom Brunel. After a short walk through Clifton Village we had a fantastic Wine Tasting event at The Hotel du Vin_Avon Gorge. Wines very kindly supplied by our Portuguese guests. Luckily most of us had taxis booked!
Monday saw us being able to show off the renovation work at The Old Vic Theatre, all very impressive, before a short walk around Castle Park & Corn Street to The Bristol Hotel for our club meeting. There President Jorge Maia Gomes gave a presentation on the Past, Present & Future of Porto RC. This was very well received. After lunch we strolled along the Harbourside to visit the SS Great Britain before a Fish & Chip supper on board the Matthew with a tour of the docks and the final canon blast of the season.
Tuesday saw a visit to The Aerospace Museum, which everybody was amazed by.
Sadly then time to return.
Very enjoyable visit for hosts & hopefully guests, strengthening the link between out two clubs.
Great to share some of the photographs from this year's competition
